I have often wondered who were the sign writers proud enough to sign their work. Very recently I came across the above signature on an old wall sign in Timaru, New Zealand. When I returned home I went to work trying to find any history about G.W. Glover and as expected nothing has been recorded anywhere that I could find. With all nearly all signage companies now employing the computer cut lettering there are very few, it seems, people taught how to hand sign write. I am glad to report that there are exceptions like Jeff Canham who has an excellent website with his signage art www.jeffcanham.com.
